What to expect
Check-in is at 8:30 AM at our shop.
You’ll fill out a release of liability and receive a quick safety briefing. Staff will need an ID for all adult participants and a credit card for your group. You can leave any personal belongings in provided cubbies at our shop. We also have last-minute essentials like Croakies, water pouches or sunscreen for purchase. Wetsuits will be offered for those who are interested. A dressing room is available for people needing to quickly change.
Next, you’ll meet your guide, and the staff will provide everyone with a life jacket before reviewing the Sea-Doo watercraft and learning how to operate it. While in the harbor, you will spot many beautiful homes, yachts and the occasional sea lion. When the group passes the harbor jetties, that’s when we’ll open the throttle and head out on your Pacific adventure.

Every Sea-Doo watercraft must have at least one passenger who is 18 or older. Minors are welcome to ride along with an adult. We recommend minors be at least 9 years old, but use your best judgment regarding your child. This adventure lasts about 2 hours. Please remember that you are with a group and the ride cannot be cut short.
Of course! It is up to you whether you want to ride solo or ride along with someone (no extra charge for those riding with two). You may not ride with the guide and we cannot match people up with others.
The Sea-Doo watercraft is very easy to drive. Before the journey, we provide a quick tutorial to ensure your safety.
While we can't promise you will see dolphins, the majority of our adventurers come across them. Sometimes we will see a few, but more often, we see dozens or even hundreds! We can guarantee sea lions though - and every once in a while, we even see whales, depending on the season.
No, you don't have to, but we'll provide one at no charge. We have spring suits (short legs, short arms) and winter suits (long arms, long legs). You can even bring a sweatshirt if you'd like – just make sure you don't mind it getting wet.
Yes, and rides during the colder months are just as much fun as the warmer months. From October to March, we adjust the start time to later in the morning so we can hit the warmer hours when the water is calm and perfect for riding.
Balboa Water Sports has been in business since 2011 when they first started to offer guided rides. Rides are always led by an experienced local guide who is not only knowledgeable about the Sea-Doo watercraft and the ocean, but the area, too. Guides are happy to answer questions along the way, and are always ready to give recommendations on what to do in the area.
Newport Beach, a coastal community in southern California, is home to one of the largest private use harbors in the world, and many famous surf spots like the Wedge. Our location in the historic Balboa Fun Zone offers visitors many places to eat, shop, or hang out at the sandy beaches.
